An uncompetitive Game 3 of the Cavaliers/Celtics series put up less-than-impressive numbers on ESPN Friday night.
The Cavaliers’ 29-point win over the Celtics drew a 2.4 U.S. rating and 3.7 million viewers on ESPN Friday night, up 4% in ratings and 11% in viewership from Celtics/Magic last year (2.3, 3.3 mil). There was no game in the comparable timeslot in ’08.
Game 3 finished well below the first two games of the series, both of which drew well over 5 million viewers.
Later on Friday night, Game 3 between the Suns and Spurs drew a 2.7 U.S. rating and 4.3 million viewers, down 31% in ratings and 28% in viewership from Lakers/Rockets Game 3 last year (3.9, 6.0 mil), but up 4% and 18%, respectively, from Lakers/Jazz Game 3 in ’08 (2.6, 3.6 mil).
The first three games of the Suns/Spurs series each drew a 2.7 rating. Ratings for Sunday’s series-clinching Game 4 were not immediately available.
