- The Ratings Game: Monday’s Suns/Lakers Game 1 drew a 6.5 rating in the San Diego market, topping that night’s Padres/Giants game head-to-head (5.7). It was the second Padres telecast in a row to lose to the NBA Playoffs; Sunday’s Celtics/Magic Game 1 topped Padres/Dodgers, 4.5 to 4.3. On Wednesday, the Padres finally came out ahead, as their game against the Dodgers topped Suns/Lakers Game 2, 6.4 to 5.2. (San Diego Union-Tribune)
- Big Name: TNT NBA analyst Doug Collins has accepted the Philadelphia 76ers’ head coaching job. Collins was in his second stint with Turner Sports, having rejoined the network prior to the 2003-04 season. It is unknown whether Collins will continue to call the Western Conference Finals for the network. (NBA.com)
- Idle Note: NBA Digital will launch a version of NBA.com for Google TV this fall.
