Ratings were down, but not bad, for the final round of the Players Championship
NBC drew a 3.0 final rating and 4.7 million viewers for final round coverage of The Players Championship last Sunday, down 17% and 13%, respectively, from last year (3.6, 5.4 mil) and down 3% in ratings and virtually flat in viewership compared to 2008 (3.1, 4.7 mil).
The 3.0 rating is the lowest for final round coverage of the event since 2006, and the third-lowest since at least ’97.
Compared to other sporting events on broadcast last weekend, final round coverage finished behind NASCAR on FOX (4.2) and the NBA on ABC (3.7 Saturday, 4.2 Sunday), but topped Yankees/Red Sox on FOX (2.5).
Saturday’s third round action drew a 2.3 final rating, down 12% from last year (2.6), but up 28% from 2008 (1.8).
