For the eighth time in 11 telecasts, Major League Baseball coverage failed to draw a 2.0 rating on FOX.
Regional MLB action featuring Dodgers/Red Sox drew a 1.5 final rating and 2.252 million viewers on FOX last Saturday, even in ratings and up 6% in viewership from regional action featuring Rays/Mets last year (1.5, 2.116 mil), and down 12% and 13%, respectively, from 2008 (1.7, 2.576 mil).
As mentioned before, this is the eighth time in 11 telecasts that FOX has failed to draw a 2.0 rating for MLB coverage. Eight of the first 11 telecasts last year also failed to draw a 2.0 rating.
Dating back to May 2008, 37 of the last 57 MLB telecasts on FOX (65%) have drawn less than a 2.0.
Entering Saturday’s primetime telecast — the second and final primetime telecast of the season — FOX is averaging a 1.8 rating for Major League Baseball coverage, down a tick from last year (1.9).
The network’s top game of the season so far was the first primetime telecast on May 22, which drew a 2.7 and 4.3 million viewers. No other telecast this season has hit 4.0 million.
