- Big Name: Former Suns GM Steve Kerr has rejoined TNT as an NBA analyst. Kerr, who worked for TNT from 2003-07, will be in the booth for the regular season, NBA All-Star Weekend and the NBA Playoffs. There has been no word on who Kerr’s partner will be; during his previous stint with the network, he worked with Marv Albert. Kerr told the Associated Press that he is “locked in definitely for the next few years.” (AP)
- Big Name II: Former NFL VP of officials Mike Pereira has joined FOX Sports as an NFL rules analyst. Each week, Pereria “will be situated in his own control room” in FOX Sports’ Los Angeles studios, where he will interact with studio and game crews whenever “circumstances warrant a rules interpretation or explanation.” (foxsports.com)
- Idle Note: The NFL is co-producing a new cartoon series on Nickelodeon. Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core will air on Nicktoons network each week of the 2010 NFL season, “[culminating] with a one-hour movie special” the day before the Super Bowl. In the show, which will last two-to-five minutes each episode, the lead character discovers that “all 32 NFL stadiums also serve as secret strongholds of an otherworldly benevolent life force that he has been chosen to guard.” NFL personalities, including Giants QB Eli Manning, will make guest appearances.
