For the second night in a row, the Rangers attracted a record audience on Fox Sports Southwest.
Wednesday’s Yankees/Rangers game drew a 9.3 rating on FS Southwest in Dallas-Ft. Worth — not only the network’s highest rating ever for a Rangers game, but its highest rating for any program in the market.
The previous network record was held by a Lakers/Mavericks game in 2002 (8.2), and the previous record for a Rangers game was held by Tuesday’s Yankees/Rangers matchup (8.0).
The game was the top program of the night in Dallas-Ft. Worth.
So far this season, Rangers telecasts are averaging a 3.3 rating on FS Southwest. Including Wednesday’s telecast, ratings for games involving recent acquisition Cliff Lee have averaged a 6.1.
The success for of the Rangers was just part of a strong week for Major League Baseball on regional sports networks. Tuesday’s brawl-marred Cardinals/Reds game drew record numbers on both FS Midwest (St. Louis) and FS Ohio (Cincinnati), while Tigers/Twins the same night drew one of the five largest ratings ever for FS North.
