They may not be the highest profile teams, but the Braves and Reds helped FOX to its best afternoon MLB rating since early May.
Regional MLB coverage featuring Braves/Reds drew a 2.2 final rating and 3.315 million viewers on FOX last Saturday, up 22% in ratings and 24% in viewership from coverage featuring Yankees/White Sox last year (1.8, 2.669 mil), and even in ratings and up 5% in viewership from coverage on the comparable date in ’08 (2.2, 3.158 mil).
This marks the highest rated, most-viewed afternoon MLB telecast on FOX since May 8.
Additionally, this is only the sixth time in 17 telecasts (afternoon and primetime) that FOX has drawn at least a 2.0 rating for MLB coverage.
Saturday’s telecast marked only the second time this season that the Braves were part of the featured telecast on FOX; both telecasts drew at least a 2.0 rating.
To put that in perspective, the Yankees have been part of the featured telecast six times, topping a 2.0 in just half of those appearances — once in a game against the Red Sox and twice in primetime.
