Of the three high profile college football matchups airing head-to-head last Saturday afternoon, Oklahoma’s blowout win over Florida State was easily the lowest rated.
ABC drew a 2.4 final rating and 3.838 million viewers for regional college football action featuring Florida State/Oklahoma last Saturday, down 54% in ratings and viewership from Notre Dame/Michigan last year (5.2, 8.391 mil) and down 17% and 11%, respectively, from regional action in 2008 (2.9, 4.299 mil).
Saturday’s telecast was easily defeated head-to-head by Michigan/Notre Dame on NBC (4.5, 6.973 mil) and Miami/Ohio State on ESPN (3.5, 5.752 mil).
The telecast also trailed ESPN’s Saturday night Penn State/Alabama game (4.2, 7.124 mil).
All three college football games on ABC this season have had double-digit declines in ratings and viewership, and all three have drawn less than a 3.0 rating.
