Ernie Johnson will be in the booth for the crown jewel of TBS baseball coverage.
Turner Sports announced on Tuesday that Johnson will call the American League Championship Series on TBS alongside John Smoltz and Ron Darling. In previous years, Johnson served as the studio host for TBS MLB coverage.
The team of Johnson, Smoltz and Darling will also call one of the four Division Series. For the other three Division Series, TBS will use the teams of Brian Anderson and Joe Simpson, Dick Stockton and Bob Brenly and Don Orsillo and Buck Martinez.
Johnson has called regular season MLB action for TBS and Atlanta’s Peachtree TV this season. During the 2009-10 NBA season, he called one game each for TNT and NBA TV.
With Johnson in the booth, Matt Winer will host studio coverage for TBS. Winer, who filled in for Johnson on Inside The NBA on multiple occasions during the NBA season, also hosted the MLB All-Star Selection Show in July.
