For the second straight week, overnight ratings jumped well over 50% for Notre Dame on NBC.
NBC drew a 4.5 overnight rating for Michigan/Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon, up 67% from the second Notre Dame home game last year (vs. Michigan State; 2.7), up 13% from the second game in ’08 (vs. Michigan; 4.0) and up 96% from the second game in ’07 (vs. Michigan State; 2.3).
Overnight ratings peaked at a 6.5 from 7-7:30 PM.
The 4.5 is tied as the highest overnight for a Notre Dame game on NBC since 2006. This is just the third time in the past four seasons (dating back to 2007) that Notre Dame football has attracted at least a 4.0 overnight on NBC.
Last year’s Notre Dame/Michigan game aired on ABC (in the same 3:30 PM timeslot) and drew a 5.6 overnight.
Detroit led all markets with a 20.4 rating for the game, followed by Indianapolis (11.7), Nashville (7.3), Chicago (7.0) and Knoxville (7.0).
