The third time was not the charm for Notre Dame football on NBC.
NBC earned a 1.8 final rating and 2.641 million viewers for Stanford/Notre Dame last Saturday, down 38% in ratings and 41% in viewership from the network’s third game last year (WSH/ND: 2.9, 4.447 mil).
Though down from last year, Saturday’s telecast was even in ratings and up 4% in viewership from the third game in 2008 (PUR/ND: 1.8, 2.541 mil).
This marks the lowest rated, least-viewed Notre Dame telecast on NBC since the team’s primetime game against Washington State last year (1.4, 2.339 mil).
The telecast trailed Alabama/Arkansas on CBS (5.2, 8.138 mil) and regional action on ABC (2.5, 3.787 mil).
Despite the decline, Notre Dame coverage on NBC is up 38% in ratings and 45% in viewership from last year, according to Sports Business Daily.
