With half of the nation’s TV markets receiving the Eagles’ stirring comeback against the Giants, overnight ratings tied a seven-year high for the NFL singleheader window on FOX.
FOX earned a 14.3 overnight for NFL action featuring Eagles/Giants in 50% of TV markets Sunday afternoon, up 20% from Week 15 last year (CIN/SD*: 11.9, CBS), and up 32% from Week 15 in 2008 (MIN/AZ*: 10.8, FOX).
The 14.3 ties the highest overnight of the season for the NFL singleheader window. Additionally, the overnight is tied as the highest for the singleheader window on any network since Week 8 of the 2003 season (14.6, FOX).
Both CBS and FOX have drawn a 14.3 for singleheader coverage on several occasions in the past few years — CBS in Week 6 this year and Week 14 two years ago, and FOX in Week 13 five years ago. On the two occasions CBS hit that mark, it was a network record (dating back to ’98).
Overall, this is the third time this season that the singleheader window has drawn at least a 14.0 overnight.
Despite the strong numbers, Sunday’s telecast trailed the NFL national window on CBS (NYJ/PIT*: 16.8) and Sunday Night Football on NBC (GB/NE: 15.2).
