ESPN earned its second-smallest audience of the season for Monday’s 49ers/Cardinals game.
The 49ers’ win drew a 7.0 U.S. rating and 11.202 million viewers on ESPN Monday night, down 46% in ratings and 48% in viewership from Week 12 last year (NE/NO: 12.9, 21.402 mil), and down 5% and 2%, respectively, from Week 12 in 2008 (GB/NO: 7.4, 11.308 mil).
Though still in playoff contention at the time of Monday’s game, both the 49ers and Cardinals entered with matching 3-7 records.
49ers/Cardinals ranks as the second-lowest rated, second-least viewed Monday night telecast of the season. Only Titans/Jaguars in Week 6 drew lower numbers (6.2, 9.666 mil).
Overall, Monday’s game stands as the sixth-lowest rated, sixth-least viewed NFL telecast of the season on any network. Excluding games on NFL Network, the telecast ranks third.
Keep in mind this does not include the early windows on Thanksgiving (CBS) or Sunday (FOX and CBS).
