Next month’s ‘Hockey Day in America’ will feature four NHL telecasts on NBC, including a battle of the last two Stanley Cup champions.
NBC will air a rare NHL doubleheader on February 20, the first time in recent memory that any broadcast network has aired two NHL telecasts on one day.
The network will begin its coverage with regional action featuring Red Wings/Wild, Flyers/Rangers or Capitals/Sabres. The three games will have staggered start times, with the first beginning at 12:35 PM ET, the second at 12:40 PM, and the third at 12:45 PM.
In the second half of the doubleheader, the Penguins face the Blackhawks in a battle of the last two Stanley Cup champions. The game will have a 3:30 PM ET start time, the latest scheduled start time for any regular season NHL game on broadcast since the 2007-08 season.
Keep in mind the January 1 Winter Classic aired at 8 PM ET after originally being scheduled for 1 PM.
The doubleheader is part of the NHL’s inaugural ‘Hockey Day in America’.
