One of the biggest names in the college football coaching fraternity is joining ESPN.
Former Univ. of Florida head coach Urban Meyer has joined ESPN as a college football analyst, the network announced Monday.
Meyer, who will make his ESPN debut Wednesday, will serve as a game and studio analyst starting next season.
In particular, Meyer will serve as an analyst on College Football Live, coverage of the Bowl Championship Series, and coverage of the NFL Draft, and contribute to College Gameday.
Additionally, he will call a weekly regular season game on one of the ESPN networks, though ESPN has not yet determined whom he will work with or what days he will work (the network generally carries college football action on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a variety of broadcast teams).
Meyer’s move to ESPN is no surprise. He served as a guest analyst for the network during its coverage of the BCS National Championship Game, and expressed admiration for the network after a visit to its Bristol, CT, headquarters in December.
