NBC earned decent, though relatively unspectacular, numbers for its NFL regular season finale Sunday night.
The Seahawks’ playoff-clinching win over the Rams earned an 11.3 final rating and 19.357 million viewers on NBC Sunday night, up 13% in ratings and 19% in viewership from Week 17 last year (NYJ/CIN: 10.0, 16.333 mil), and up 26% and 30%, respectively, from Week 17 in 2008 (DEN/SD: 9.0, 14.847 mil).
Though the game was a battle of 7-8 and 6-9 teams, it was also essentially a play-in game for the last open NFL playoff spot.
Sunday’s game was the highest rated, most-viewed regular season finale of Sunday Night Football on NBC since the network resumed coverage in 2006 (five telecasts).
That said, the telecast was tied as the third-lowest rated of the season on NBC.
Rams/Seahawks was the #2 primetime program of the week on broadcast in ratings, viewership and the adults 18-49 demographic (6.9), behind only Vikings/Eagles on NBC four nights earlier.
