After an extremely strong start to the season, the NBA on ABC stumbled to a season low for the March 13 Magic/Suns game.
The Magic’s blowout win over the Suns drew a 1.4 final rating and 2.101 million viewers on ABC March 13, down 42% in ratings and 45% in viewership from last year (BOS/CLE: 2.4, 3.808M), and down 30% and 31%, respectively, from 2009 (DAL/LAL: 2.0, 3.031M).
The game ranks as the lowest rated, least-viewed NBA game on ABC since Suns/Spurs in February 2010 (1.3, 1.905M).
Additionally, this marks the first NBA game of the season on ABC to have a decline in ratings from last year or draw less than 2% of U.S. TV homes.
Magic/Suns is tied as the 11th lowest rated NBA game on ABC since the network reacquired rights to the league in 2002 (152 regular season telecasts).
