Five years after OLN was rebranded as Versus, the cable sports network is set to have another name change.
Versus is “no more than 90 days away” from being renamed, NBC Sports Group Chairman Dick Ebersol told reporters in a conference call Tuesday.
Using Ebersol’s estimate, a name change for Versus should come by mid-July.
The new name will include a “strong utilization of the word NBC in the title,” an indication that NBC may move in the direction of rivals Fox Sports Net and CBS Sports Network.
NBC and Versus are now corporate siblings following Comcast’s acquisition of a majority stake in NBC Universal earlier this year.
