NFL Network is making yet another change to the announcing team for Thursday Night Football.
ESPN play-by-play voice Brad Nessler and NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock will make up the new broadcast team for live NFL games on NFL Network. Nessler and Mayock replace the previous team of Bob Papa, Joe Theismann and Matt Millen.
Papa and Theismann will remain with NFL Network in other, unspecified capacities.
Like Millen before him, Nessler will remain with ESPN while working for NFL Network. It is unknown whether Mayock will continue in his current role as analyst for Notre Dame football on NBC.
Nessler has called two Monday Night Football games in his career, both times the second half of an ESPN opening week doubleheader. In addition, he was one the voice of the NBA on ESPN/ABC, and is currently a prominent college football play-by-play voice.
In addition to his Notre Dame football role, Mayock served as the analyst for NBC’s early Wild Card Saturday game in January.
The Nessler/Mayock team is just the latest for NFL Network. Previous teams include Bryant Gumbel and Cris Collinsworth, Papa and Collinsworth, Papa and Millen, and Papa, Millen and Theismann.
