The finale of the Bruins/Lightning series was the most-viewed conference final game on cable in nearly a decade.
Friday’s Game 7 between the Lightning and Bruins drew 2.550 million viewers on Versus, the most-viewed NHL non-Stanley Cup Final telecast ever on the network.
Including the Stanley Cup Final, Game 7 ranks as the sixth-most viewed.
The Bruins’ win ranks as the most-viewed conference final game on cable since Avalanche/Red Wings Game 7 on ESPN in 2002. For some perspective, that 2002 series averaged 2.922 million viewers on ESPN over five telecasts.
Versus averaged 854,000 viewers for coverage of the first three rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the highest for the postseason on cable since 2002.
