Had FOX won rights to the Olympic Games, often criticized play-by-play voice Joe Buck would have hosted the network’s coverage.
Fox Sports president Eric Shanks told USA Today that Buck would have hosted the network’s coverage of the 2014 and 2016 Olympic Games had Fox won rights to the event.
Buck is currently the lead voice of the network’s NFL and Major League Baseball coverage.
Both FOX and ESPN were in the running to acquire rights to the Olympics, but incumbent NBC won the rights to the 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020 games.
