Overnight ratings for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game hit a record low for the second straight year.
The 2011 MLB All-Star Game earned a 7.9 overnight rating on FOX Tuesday night, down 15% from last year (9.3), down 24% from 2009 (10.4), and the lowest overnight ever for the event.
The previous record low was set by last year’s game. This is just the third time the MLB All-Star Game has failed to attract at least 10% of U.S. metered market homes.
Since FOX began televising the game exclusively in 2001, final ratings for the MLB All-Star Game have declined between 12% and 19% from the overnight, putting Tuesday’s game on pace to finish in the 6.4-7.0 range.
The All-Star Game drew a lower overnight than the NFL Pro Bowl on FOX (8.6), but topped the NBA All-Star Game on TNT (6.2). Of note, the Pro Bowl (up 11%) and NBA All-Star Game (up 35%) were both up double-digits.
