One of the biggest stars in NBA history, both literally and figuratively, is headed to Turner Sports.
Retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal has joined TNT as a full-time NBA studio analyst, Turner Sports announced Thursday.
The NBA champion and occasional movie star will work alongside Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley on the popular Inside the NBA studio show.
With apologies to Barkley, O’Neal now becomes arguably the highest-profile member of the TNT studio team.
O’Neal will also contribute to NBA TV and NBA.com, “providing analysis and commentary” (Turner Sports, 7/14).
The agreement also includes a development deal between O’Neal and Turner Broadcasting’s entertainment and animation networks. O’Neal starred in the movies Kazaam and Steel, and has made cameos in other films ranging from Goodburger to Scary Movie 3.
O’Neal will make his debut whenever the NBA returns from the current lockout.
