Like FOX and ESPN, CBS saw ratings and viewership decline for NFL coverage during Week 1 of the season.
The Week 1 NFL singleheader window, featuring Ravens/Steelers, drew a 9.1 final rating and 15.496 million viewers on CBS Sunday afternoon — down 6% in ratings and 4% in viewership from last year (CIN/NE*: 9.7, 16.175M), but up 28% and 36%, respectively, from 2009 (NYJ/HOU*: 7.1, 11.374M).
The telecast was the second-lowest rated and second-least viewed of Week 1, ahead of only the first half of the FOX doubleheader (PHI/STL*: 8.0, 13.044M).
As mentioned earlier, six of the seven NFL telecast windows during Week 1 were down from last year. Only the Cowboys/Jets Sunday night game was up from last year.
