A battle of sub-.500 teams did NBC no favors on Sunday night.
The Week 6 edition of Sunday Night Football, pitting the 2-3 Bears against the 1-4 Vikings, earned an 11.2 overnight rating on NBC — down 15% from last year (IND/WSH: 13.2), and down 7% from 2009 (CHI/ATL: 12.0).
The 11.2 overnight is the lowest of the season for SNF. The previous low was a 12.7 for Jets/Ravens in Week 4.
Sunday’s game was not only outdrawn by the NFL national window on FOX (DAL/NE*: 19.1), but also trailed the first half of the FOX doubleheader (SF/DET*: 12.4).
Chicago was the top market for the game, with a 32.5. Minneapolis was second with a 31.4. Rounding out the top five were Las Vegas (16.9), Norfolk, VA (16.9), and Indianapolis (14.3).
