Even after the numbers were adjusted upward by Nielsen, the Week 7 edition of Monday Night Football was an unusually poor draw for ESPN.
The Week 7 Ravens/Jaguars Monday Night Football game drew a 6.1 U.S. rating and 9.275 million viewers on ESPN October 24, down 46% in ratings and 48% in viewership (NYG/DAL: 11.2, 17.953M), and down 25% and 27%, respectively, from 2009 (PHI/WSH: 8.1, 12.766M).
The game ranks as the least-viewed edition of Monday Night Football since Week 13 of the 2008-09 season (JAX/TEX: 8.897M).
The low numbers can at least partly be attributed to competition from Game 5 of the World Series on FOX (STL/TEX: 8.8, 14.3M). Despite losing to the World Series overall, Ravens/Jaguars was the top program of the night in the men 18-34 and men 18-49 demographics.
So far this season, seven of the eight Monday Night Football games on ESPN have had declines in ratings and viewership compared to last year.
