After losing the battle to get Patriots/Broncos added to the Sunday night schedule, NBC ended up with mediocre numbers for a mediocre Ravens/Chargers matchup.
The Week 15 edition of Sunday Night Football, pitting the Ravens against the 6-7 Chargers, earned an 11.3 overnight rating on NBC — down 26% from Week 15 last year (GB/NE: 15.2), and down 6% from Week 15 in 2009 (MIN/CAR: 12.0).
The 11.3 overnight is the third-lowest of the season for the NFL on NBC, ahead of only games in Week 6 (MIN/CHI: 11.2) and Week 7 (IND/NO: 8.2) of the season.
NBC sought to replace Ravens/Chargers with Sunday’s Patriots/Broncos game, but was unsuccessful. The Patriots’ win earned a 19.5 overnight on CBS, the highest regular season NFL overnight in over four years.
