Not only did NBC miss out on Sunday’s highly rated Patriots/Broncos game, but the network was saddled with a less-than-appealing matchup between the Ravens and the sub-.500 Chargers.
The Week 15 Ravens/Chargers Sunday Night Football game earned a 10.1 final rating and 16.578 million viewers on NBC, down 28% in ratings and 31% in viewership from Week 15 last year (GB/NE: 14.0, 24.166M), and down 8% and 9%, respectively, from Week 15 in 2009 (MIN/CAR: 11.0, 18.187M).
The game ranks as the second-lowest rated (tie) and third-least viewed NFL telecast of the season on NBC (sixteen telecasts).
Ratings and viewership have now declined for four of the last five NFL telecasts on NBC.
For the first time all season, Sunday Night Football did not outdraw ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Monday’s Steelers/49ers game drew the same rating as Ravens/Chargers and slightly more viewers.
Though down from last year, Sunday’s game ranked as the week’s top primetime program on broadcast in the adults 18-49 demographic (6.1). In household ratings and P2+ viewership, the game ranked fourth and third, respectively.
