Monday Night Football will be reduced to a two-man booth for the first time since the franchise moved to ESPN.
ESPN announced Wednesday that NFL analyst Ron Jaworski will move from games to the studio next season, ending his five-season run as a Monday Night Football analyst.
Despite the apparent demotion, Jaworski is not being phased out at ESPN. In fact, the move was part of an announcement that Jaworski has signed a new five-year extension with ESPN.
Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden will remain as the ‘MNF’ broadcast team.
This marks the fourth change to the Monday Night Football broadcast team since ESPN began televising games in 2006. The initial booth featured Tirico, Joe Theismann and Tony Kornheiser. Theismann was replaced by Jaworski after one season, and Kornheiser was replaced by Gruden in 2009.
