Despite the presence of an ostensibly big name, final ratings remained unimpressive for the Women’s Final of the French Open.
Coverage of the French Open featuring the Maria Sharapova/Sara Errani Women’s Final drew a 1.4 final rating on NBC last Saturday morning, even with Na/Schiavone last year (1.4) and Schiavone/Stosur in 2010 (1.4).
The 1.4 rating is tied as the second-lowest for the Women’s Final of the French Open since at least 1994 (ratings prior to 1995 were not available), and is more than likely the second-lowest ever for the event. The only match to draw a lower rating was the 2009 Kuznetsova/Safina final (1.3).
On Sunday, rain-affected coverage featuring the Rafael Nadal/Novak Djokovic Men’s Final drew a 1.7 final rating — down 19% from Nadal/Federer last year (2.1), but up 21% from Nadal/Soderling in 2010 (1.4).
The match was postponed due to rain and concluded on NBC Sports Network Monday morning.
