One week after hitting a season-high, overnight ratings for ‘Baseball Night in America’ slipped back toward mediocrity Saturday night.
Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Mets/Dodgers in 40% of markets drew a 2.5 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, up 47% from afternoon action featuring Mets/Rangers in week thirteen last season (1.7).
The 2.5 overnight ranks as the fourth-lowest for a primetime Major League Baseball telecast on FOX (14 telecasts dating back to 1998).
Saturday’s telecast was outdrawn head-to-head by coverage of the U.S. Olympic Trials (3.6 for swimming, 4.5 for track & field).
Keep in mind that several markets were excluded from the overnight due to inclement weather.
