Notre Dame’s blowout of Miami was not as big a primetime draw as their battle against rival Michigan two weeks earlier.
Saturday’s Miami/Notre Dame college football game drew a 2.4 overnight rating on NBC Saturday night, up 100% from the third Notre Dame telecast on the network last season, against Air Force (1.2), and up 14% from the third telecast in 2010, against Stanford (2.1).
Keep in mind the previous telecasts aired in the afternoon.
The 2.4 overnight for Miami/Notre Dame represents a 40% falloff compared to Michigan/Notre Dame two weeks ago, which also aired in primetime (4.0). Keep in mind Notre Dame blew out Miami by 38 points, but topped Michigan by a more respectable seven.
Overall, the 2.4 is the third-highest of the six primetime Notre Dame games on NBC, trailing the Michigan game earlier this season and USC/Notre Dame last year (2.6).
Head-to-head, Miami/Notre Dame trailed West Virginia/Texas on FOX (3.2) and Nebraska/Ohio State on ABC (3.1), but barely edged Georgia/South Carolina on ESPN (2.3).
