The Bruins/Rangers series may be short-lived, but NBC Sports Network has reaped the benefits nonetheless.
Game 3 of the Bruins/Rangers second round Stanley Cup playoff series drew nearly 1.8 million viewers on NBC Sports Network Tuesday night, the third-largest audience ever for a second round game on the network.
Only Rangers/Capitals Game 3 last year (1.9M), and Sharks/Red Wings Game 2 in 2010 (1.8M) drew more viewers. The two Rangers/Bruins games on NBCSN rank among the network’s 10 most-viewed second round games.
Game 3 drew a 16.09 rating in Boston, the market’s highest ever for a second round game on NBCSN. In New York, the game drew a 3.3.
Later Tuesday night, Game 4 between the Kings and Sharks drew a far less impressive 800,000 viewers. The game drew a 3.55 rating in San Jose and a 1.98 in Los Angeles.
