After an inopportune eye infection kept him off the air for a week, NBC’s Bob Costas will resume anchoring the 2014 Winter Olympics on Monday.
NBC Sports announced via its PR Twitter feed Sunday that Costas will return to the air Monday night, one week to the day after his last appearance. Costas had been hampered by an eye infection since the beginning of the Olympics and had to take time off once it began to affect his vision.
Matt Lauer will fill-in again Sunday night, having previously anchored coverage Tuesday through Thursday. Meredith Vieira anchored on Friday and Saturday.
Prior to last week, Costas had anchored every single primetime Olympics telecast since 1998, when Jim Nantz anchored coverage of the Winter Olympics for CBS.
