NBC just barely earned its best overnight for primetime coverage of the Winter Olympics since the Opening Weekend of competition.
Primetime coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympics earned a 14.6 overnight rating on NBC Monday night, the highest overnight for the primetime window since the first Sunday (15.7). The previous mark was a 14.5 for action last Tuesday night.
Overnights for the comparable Monday of the Vancouver and Turin Olympics were not available. The comparable night of the most recent Olympics — London in 2012 — had a 17.5 overnight.
Locally, Minneapolis led all markets Monday night with a 21.9 rating. Kansas City (21.3) and Salt Lake City (21.0) ranked second and third, with Denver (20.6) and Ft. Myers, FL (18.5) rounding out the top five.
Over on NBCSN, live coverage of the Olympics had a 1.2 overnight — up 169% from London in 2012.
