The highest profile event of the Winter Olympics failed to move the needle appreciably Thursday night.
Thursday’s primetime coverage of the 2014 Sochi Olympics earned a 13.1 overnight rating on NBC, the fifth-lowest primetime overnight of the Olympics (15 telecasts). Overnights for Vancouver in 2010 and Turin in 2006 were not available; the comparable telecast of the 2012 London Olympics had a 15.3 overnight.
Despite featuring the conclusion of women’s figure skating, Thursday’s coverage had the fifth-lowest overnight of the 2014 Olympics.
Locally, Minneapolis led all markets with a 21.1 rating. Top-five regulars Kansas City (18.7), Salt Lake City (18.6) and Denver (18.5) followed, with Indianapolis (17.9) rounding out the list.
Over on NBCSN, live coverage of the Olympics had a 0.8 overnight, up by an unspecified amount over the comparable telecast in 2012.
