Large Gains Continue For Olympics on NBCSN
- NBCSN earned 977,000 viewers for live coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics Friday, up 60% from the comparable day of the 2012 London Summer Olympics. The previous day, the network earned 1.4 million viewers for live coverage — its largest audience ever for weekday Olympic coverage. (NBC Sports Group Press Box [1], [2])
Mixed Results For NBC’s Sochi Coverage Last Weekend
- Last Saturday’s afternoon coverage of the Winter Olympics earned a 7.5 final rating and 12.5 million viewers on NBC, down 6% in ratings and 5% in viewership from Vancouver in 2010 (8.0, 13.1M), but up 10% and 24%, respectively, from Turin in 2006 (6.8, 10.1M). The Sunday afternoon window had a 9.1 rating to go along with the previously reported 15.4 million viewers, both up from Vancouver and Turin. (Sports Business Daily)
Big Declines For PGA’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am
- Final round coverage of the PGA Tour AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am earned a 1.8 final rating and 2.7 million viewers on CBS last Sunday, down 33% in ratings from last year (2.7), and down 63% and 64%, respectively, from 2012 (4.9, 7.4M). The final round was the lowest rated since 2010, the last time the event aired opposite the Winter Olympics. Third round action last Saturday drew a 1.0 and 1.5 million — down 44% in ratings from last year (1.8), and down 62% and 61%, respectively, from 2012 (2.6, 3.9M). (Sports Business Daily)
