For the first time all season, MLB on FOX hit a 2.0 rating in the metered markets.
Regional MLB action on FOX earned a 2.3 overnight rating Saturday night, down 8% from both last year and 2012 (2.5). Despite the modest decline, the 2.3 is easily the top overnight of the season for MLB on FOX. The previous high was a mere 1.6.
Saturday’s coverage was no doubt boosted by the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry. The teams’ lone primetime appearance on FOX last season had a similar 2.5 overnight, albeit opposite stronger competition from the NBA and NHL playoffs.
MLB on FOX was the top non-World Cup sporting event of the weekend on broadcast, and even topped concurrent coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on TNT (2.1).
