It was not quite as big a draw as the USA game the previous day, but Tuesday’s World Cup clash between Brazil and Mexico scored big numbers.
The Brazil/Mexico World Cup match earned approximately 11.0 million viewers combined across ESPN and Univision Tuesday afternoon, with 6.8 million of those viewers watching on Univision — the largest audience ever for a group play World Cup match on the network.
The previous high for a group play match on Univision was 6.0 million for Mexico/France in 2010.
ESPN earned 4.2 million viewers for its coverage of the match. The two networks combined for a 4.4 rating among adults 18-49 (based on a combined 5.6 million viewers in the demo).
