Unusually high levels of media attention have generated strong numbers for the Little League World Series.
Wednesday’s Nevada/Pennsylvania Little League World Series game earned a 3.4 overnight rating on ESPN, up 143% from California/Connecticut last year (1.4) and a record for Little League coverage on ESPN. The 3.4 is the highest for any LLWS telecast since the 2007 championship game on ABC (3.5).
Nevada/Pennsylvania also earned a higher overnight than any Major League Baseball game on ESPN in over three years — since an August 2011 Yankees/Red Sox game (3.6). Keep in mind that excludes the annual Home Run Derby.
The game drew a 16.3 rating in Las Vegas and a 14.9 in Philadelphia, records in both markets for Little League coverage.
