Brian Urlacher has resigned as a Fox Sports analyst. In other news, CBS NFL analysts will guest star on the network’s dramas and CBS and NFL Network will no longer use Rhianna on the Thursday Night Football intro.
Urlacher Leaves Fox Sports
- Fox Sports NFL analyst Brian Urlacher has departed the network effective immediately. According to a Tuesday press release, Urlacher said he wanted to spend more time with his family. Urlacher, who joined Fox Sports just over a year ago, had been an analyst on FS1 programs Fox NFL Kickoff and America’s Pregame. (Fox Sports)
CBS Analysts to Guest Star on Network’s Dramas
- CBS NFL analysts will guest star on several of the network’s drama series this fall. Lead NFL game analyst Phil Simms will appear on a November episode of Sherlock, The NFL Today analyst Boomer Esiason will appear on Blue Bloods in October, and studio colleague Tony Gonzalez will appear on NCIS later this month. While Simms and Esiason will appear as themselves, Gonzalez will play a special agent. (CBS Press Express)
CBS, NFL Network, Drop Rhianna Intros
- The musician Rhianna will no longer be featured in the introduction for Thursday Night Football on CBS and NFL Network. The decision was apparently made after she used an expletive to express her irritation with the networks for pulling the segment last week. The original plan was for one of Rhianna’s songs to accompany a Don Cheadle narration for each of the Thursday night games. (Fang’s Bites)
