For the second straight week, ABC’s afternoon college football window was the top draw.
Last Saturday’s USC/Stanford college football game drew a 4.1 final rating and 6.5 million viewers on ABC, up 58% in ratings and 60% in viewership from regional action last year (2.6, 4.1M) and up 24% and 39%, respectively, from regional action in 2012 (3.3, 4.7M).
USC/Stanford ranks as the highest rated and most-watched college football game of the young season. The previous high was set by regional action ABC a week earlier, featuring West Virginia/Alabama in most markets (4.0, 6.4M).
Both telecasts, it should be noted, aired in the 3:30 PM ET window. The season’s top primetime game thus far — Florida State/Oklahoma State in week one — drew a 3.8 and 6.0 million.
Earlier Saturday, regional action on ABC drew a 2.1 and 3.2 million viewers. There was no comparable Noon ET window last year.
