After a decline in the overnights, final ratings and viewership for Monday Night Football increased over last year.
The Colts/Eagles Monday Night Football game drew a 9.2 U.S. rating and 14.9 million viewers on ESPN, up 1% in ratings and 4% in viewership from Steelers/Bengals last year (9.1, 14.3M) but down 8% and 4%, respectively, from Broncos/Falcons in 2012 (10.0, 15.5M).
The Eagles’ win topped both games of ESPN’s Week 1 doubleheader, with the caveat that the Week 1 coverage averaged a higher rating (9.6) and more viewers (15.5M) during the traditional MNF timeslot (8:15-11:00 PM ET).
Among adults 18-49, Monday’s game drew a a 5.8 rating — down a tick from last year (5.8) and down 9% from 2012 (6.4).
MNF has averaged an 8.2 U.S. rating and 13.4 million viewers through Week 2 of the season, down 7% in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year (8.8, 14.1M), but up a tick and 8%, respectively, from 2012 (8.1, 12.4M).
