Lacking some of the more traditional draws, ratings dropped substantially for the SEC on CBS last week.
Last Saturday’s Arkansas/Texas A&M college football game from Cowboys Stadium drew a 2.7 final rating and 4.4 million viewers on CBS, down 41% in ratings and viewership from LSU/Georgia last year (4.6, 7.4M).
In a rarity, CBS did not air the top SEC telecast of the week. That honor went to ESPN, which drew a 3.1 and 4.7 million for Tennessee/Georgia.
Keep in mind Arkansas/Texas A&M had some tough competition from ABC’s regional window, which featured Florida State/N.C. State in most markets (3.5, 5.5M). Overall, the game ranked third for the week behind that regional telecast and Tennessee/Georgia.
CORRECTION 10/3: The original version of this post mistakenly compared Arkansas/Texas A&M to last year’s week four telecast (Florida/Tennessee).
