Though last year provided a low bar to pass, overnight ratings improved for college football on FOX.
The Arizona State/USC college football game drew a 1.9 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, up 46% from TCU/Oklahoma last year (1.3) but down 41% from West Virginia/Texas in 2012 (3.2). This marks the second time in three weeks that FOX has managed an increase of over 40% for its Saturday night game.
The Sun Devils’ Hail Mary victory was topped head-to-head by Nebraska/Michigan State on ABC (2.3) and LSU/Auburn on ESPN (2.0). Of note, Fox Sports 1 averaged a higher overnight rating Saturday night for its extra innings coverage of the Giants/Nationals MLB playoff game (2.8).
Earlier Saturday, TCU’s upset of Oklahoma drew a 1.4 overnight on FOX. There was no comparable afternoon window last year.
