CBS had mixed numbers for Sunday’s NFL doubleheader.
The Week 6 NFL national window, featuring Chiefs/49ers in 54% of markets, drew a 13.2 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon — down 29% from Broncos/Cowboys last year (18.6) and down 16% from coverage featuring Broncos/Patriots in 2012 (15.7). The 13.2 is the lowest for the Week 5 national window since 2007, when coverage featuring Chargers/Broncos drew a 10.6.
Despite the lower numbers, the national window was still the top NFL telecast of the week. NBC’s Sunday Night Football and the FOX singleheader tied for a close second with a 12.8.
Fueled by the Cowboys, CBS had greater success earlier in the day. The network’s early window, featuring Cowboys/Texans, drew an 11.6 overnight — up 20% from last year (9.7), up 24% from 2012 (9.3), and the highest for the Week 5 early doubleheader game in at least a decade.
