Sunday Night Football posted its strongest ever performance opposite the World Series.
The Week 8 Packers/Saints Sunday Night Football game drew a 10.9 final rating and 18.8 million viewers on NBC, up 11% in ratings and viewership from Packers/Vikings last year (9.8, 16.9M) and up 2% and 6%, respectively, from Saints/Broncos in 2012 (10.7, 17.7M).
The Saints’ blowout win ranks as the highest rated and most-watched Sunday Night Football game to ever air opposite the World Series (five telecasts). Head-to-head, SNF topped Game 5 of the World Series by 49% in ratings and viewership and a whopping 116% among adults 18-49.
Even though the NFL dominated the head-to-head match-up, it did not come out unscathed. Packers/Saints earned the season’s second-lowest rating and viewership on NBC, ahead of only Giants/Eagles two weeks earlier (10.8, 18.1M).
Among adults 18-49, SNF had a 7.1 rating — up 13% from last year (6.3) and up a tick from 2012 (7.0).
