To say that CBS had mixed results for its Week 9 doubleheader would be an understatement.
The Week 9 NFL national window, featuring Broncos/Patriots in 92% of markets, drew a 16.8 final rating and 29.1 million viewers on CBS — up 17% in ratings and 21% in viewership from coverage featuring Steelers/Patriots last year (14.3, 24.0M) and up 14% and 20%, respectively, from coverage featuring Steelers/Giants in 2012 (14.7, 24.2M).
The telecast ranks as the highest rated and most-watched on CBS this season, topping the previous marks of 15.8 and 27.2 million for the Week 3 national window. Overall, it ranks second for the season on any network — trailing only the Week 6 national window on FOX (17.4, 30.0M).
The Broncos or Cowboys have been featured two of the top four telecasts this season.
Earlier Sunday, regional action on CBS drew a mere 5.8 and 9.3 million — down 32% in ratings and 33% in viewership from last year (8.6, 13.8M) and the network’s lowest rated, least-viewed telecast of the season.
Only one NFL window on broadcast has drawn a lower rating and fewer viewers this season, the 9:30 AM ET Lions/Falcons game on FOX the previous week (5.5, 8.5M).
