ESPN scored a solid increase in ratings and viewership for the New Orleans Bowl.
The UL-Lafayette/Nevada New Orleans Bowl drew a 1.6 final rating and 2.2 million viewers on ESPN last Saturday, up 23% in ratings and 9% in viewership from UL-Lafayette/Tulane last year (1.3, 2.1M) but down 11% and 15%, respectively, from UL-Lafayette/ECU in 2012 (1.8, 2.6M).
The Ragin Cajuns’ earned the third-largest New Orleans Bowl audience in at least the past eight seasons, trailing only 2012 and 2011 (2.3M). The bowl has now topped two million viewers in five consecutive seasons, a major turnaround after earning just 993,000 in 2009.
The game was also the most-watched of ESPN’s four bowl telecasts last Saturday.
