The annual NHL Black Friday game earned its smallest audience since inception. In other news, the Bayou Classic college football game increased dramatically, and the EPL on NBC also had a big jump.
NHL Low For Black Friday Game
- Last Friday’s Rangers/Flyers NHL Thanksgiving Showdown drew a 0.8 final rating and 1.1 million viewers on NBC, down 20% in ratings and 27% in viewership from Rangers/Bruins last year (1.0, 1.5M) and down 11% and 15%, respectively, from Red Wings/Bruins in 2011 (0.9, 1.3M). The 2012 game was canceled by the NHL owners.
Bayou Classic Up Big
- NBC scored a 0.7 final rating and 1.0 million viewers for the Grambling/Southern Bayou Classic college football game last Saturday, up 40% in ratings and 61% in viewership from last year (0.5, 620K) and flat and up 2%, respectively, from 2012 (0.7, 983K).
Big Jump For EPL on NBC As Well
- The Sunderland/Chelsea English Premier League match drew a 0.5 final rating and 802,000 viewers on NBC last Saturday, up a tick in ratings and 45% in viewership from last year’s West Brom/Newcastle match (0.4, 553K).
